Santa Claus Arrival Parade in AnaheimNovember 25, 2013
Anaheim, CA (November 25, 2013) -- Santa Claus is coming to Anaheim on Friday, November 29. The Yorba Linda High School Band will lead the Santa Arrival Parade at noon on Friday, November 29 at Anaheim Town Square, located at Lincoln Avenue and State College Boulevard just off Highway 57.
Following the parade the FREE holiday festivities continue until 3 p.m. with tons of snow play, face painting, balloon artistry, train rides and merchant hosted activities. Children can get photos with Santa in the NEW Gallery of Gifts and Girl Scout Troop 1816 will assist children in a craft activity to make holiday thermometers.
Santa will be proud of the children who participate in a second craft activity at Friday's event. Representatives of the Bag of Hope program will assist children in making a gift for a less fortunate child. Anaheim Town Square will provide free supplies for children to make jingle necklaces which will be given to children served by the Bag of Hope program.
After Santa arrives in the parade, he will greet children at his holiday headquarters in the Gallery of Gifts, located next to Staples at Anaheim Town Square. To receive a free photo with Santa during the event, bring receipts of $25 from one or multiple Anaheim Town Square merchants to the Gallery of Gifts.
Following the Friday event, the Gallery of Gifts will be open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 12 - 3 p.m. through December 22. Santa will return to the Gallery of Gifts every weekend so families can bring cameras to take photos.
The Gallery of Gifts features merchant displays of perfect gifts for everyone in the family and is the location for two heartwarming community activities. During the Gallery of Gifts hours people are invited to bring canned food donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. Anaheim Town Square will give each person who brings five or more cans of food a holiday gift, while supplies last. Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County provides the food to charity organizations who feed more than 200,000 hungry people in Orange County every month. Visit feedoc.org to learn more about Second Harvest food Bank of Orange County.
To make sure that people in need also have presents, Anaheim Town Square is presenting sponsor of the 2013 Bag of Hope program. When people visit the Gallery of Gifts they can select a bag with the age and gender of a local child who lives in serious want. A shopping list attached to each bag lists recommended items such as age-appropriate books, clothing, toiletries, small toys, crayons, etc. Each donor will return the filled Bag of Hope to the Gallery of Gifts. The jingle bell necklaces that children will make at the November 29 Santa Arrival event will be added to the gifts in the bags. After a final check for appropriate content, quality and safety, the Bags of Hope will be delivered to low income families before Christmas.
